Sand Safari Arts Festival 2020
Welcome the autumn season with Sand Safari Arts Festival, back bigger and better in 2020 with “Fairytales” as its central theme. Held in Surfers Paradise – a few minutes’ journey from Main Beach via car or light rail – Sand Safari Arts Festival is a must-see spectacle on the beachfront, which will have the best sculptors in Australia creating live sand sculptures and art installations.
Free to attend, this two-week festival exhibition will feature sand sculptors large and small, all relating to fairytales with the opportunity to learn the basics of sculpting through festival activities and workshops. Don’t miss it in Surfers Paradise from February 14 to March 1.
Gold Coast Superheroes Weekend
In Broadbeach, just south of Surfers Paradise, head to the beachfront for Gold Coast Superheroes Weekend 2020 – an unmissable cosplay parade for all ages that will take place hand-in-hand with Supanova Comic-Con Gold Coast at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach.
Over a three-day weekend, soak up this free pop culture extravaganza in Broadbeach, where you can meet like-minded gaming and comic book fans, see upcoming screenings and get your hands on exclusive merchandise and memorabilia. The Greatest Showman Singalong Experience
Claim your spot now – Home of the Arts Gold Coast is offering a free outdoor movie showing of The Greatest Showman with a cast of performers singing and dancing to the chart-topping soundtrack!
With the blockbuster musical on a big HD screen and the chance to sing along to all your favourite hits from the movie, The Greatest Showman Singalong Experience at HOTA isn’t to be missed for fans as well as anyone yet to see it. Although free, spots are limited so book in advance for its one-night-only showing on March 14.
Australian Street Entertainment Carnival
To take over the streets and main precincts of Surfers Paradise for four whole days, Australian Street Entertainment Carnival is an event that will bring a whole new atmosphere to the popular tourist destination, offering free street performances of all kinds with plenty for all to see and be amazed by.
Featuring and introducing street performing artists from all over Australia, Surfers Paradise Street Entertainment Carnival is a chance to discover rare and unique talents encompassing everything from dance, fire breathing and juggling to stand-up comedy, music and theatre. Don’t miss it when it arrives on April 10 until April 13.
SIPFest 2020
A few days after Australian Street Entertainment Carnival 2020, grab a picnic blanket with the kids and head to Surfers Paradise Beach for SIPFest 2020, returning with this year’s Gold Coast Film Festival and Festival of Film, Music and Dance.
Celebrating culture and artistic expression, this umbrella festival boasts lots to see and do along the coast with SIPFest being one of its unmissable events. On the beach and under the stars, watch and cast your vote for 14 of the best short films produced recently in Australia – it’s a free outdoor cinema experience like no other coming on April 18.
Surfers Paradise LIVE
If you’re craving live music on the beach this 2020, Surfers Paradise LIVE is a free four-day music festival on Surfers Paradise Beach with a yearly line-up that never disappoints. This autumn, Surfers Paradise LIVE 2020 has already confirmed Spiderbait, British India, Jon Stevens, Vanessa Amorosi, Dragon, The Angels, Baby Animals, Mark Seymour and The Undertow – more yet to be announced.
The festival starts with the annual Gold Coast Music Awards, then launches in full swing on Surfers Paradise Beach with non-stop sounds and festival refreshments at the Beach Hut. Family-friendly and free to attend, there’s no excuse to miss it from April 30 to May 3.
Blues on Broadbeach 2020
Hitting Broadbeach just two weeks after Surfers Paradise LIVE, Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is another FREE family music festival to catch this year on the Gold Coast, full to the brim with an all-new explosive line-up comprising some of the world’s biggest names in blues and rock.
Staged across Broadbeach with performance areas in the streets and on Kurrawa Beach itself, Blues on Broadbeach 2020 is returning larger than ever for its 19th year with confirmed artists including Tommy Emmanuel, Gaby Moreno, Karise Eden, Kim Churchill and Bondi Cigars.
